The Region

The Western Cape region:

Just 140 km north of Cape Town, on the duney, windswept seashore lies the lovely seaside hamlet of Kersbosstrand.  A natural reef forms a barrier in the ocean creating calm waters perfect for holidaying with family.

The spectacular Buffelsfontein Game and Nature Reserve is a private game reserve situated on the R27 towards Verlddrif, in the heart of the West Coast.  This area is a malaria free zone and a wonderful introduction to a real wild life safari game reserve.

Game you can expect to see on a drive:
Lion, Buffalo, Giraffe, Zebra, Blue Wildebeest, Red Hartebeest, Kudu,Eland, Oryx (Gemsbok), Bontebok, Springbok, Duiker, Steenbok and Caracal.

Game seen less often on a drive:  African Wildcat, Bat-eared fox, Cape fox, Genet, Grey buck, Mountain Reedbuck, Porcupine, Aardvark, Aardwolf and Honey Badger.

A quick 20 minute drive in either direction you will find the luxurious Club Mykonos offering a casino and sunset cruises, Langebaan a haven for adventure sports such as Kite Surfing, Wind Surfing and Kayaking, Vredenburg perfect for shopaholics, Elandsbay world renowned for surfing and wind-sailing and Velddrif: famous for its South African delicacy “bokkoms” is the nearest town only 10 minutes drive away.

Verlddrif also offers a doctor’s surgery, pharmacy, supermarket, various restaurants, a butcher’s, bakery, filling station, video store, post office, coffee shop and the Bergrivier Golf Club.

Rocherpan Nature Reserve near Velddrif is renowned for its wonderful bird life and its best-kept secret as an ideal whale watching spot.

The most spectacular annual spring flower display can be seen during the months from August through till October.  
The nearest hospital is situated in Vredenburg 30 minutes drive away.
